Job Description
Visa University (VU) is Visa's world-class learning and development organization. At VU, we seek to ignite curiosity, fuel learning, and propel growth for everyone, everywhere, every day.
The Manager, Learning Design is an individual contributor joining a VU team that is actively evolving how learning is designed and delivered for Visa’s Sales & Client Services Learning team. You'll work across a range of business priorities, experiment with AI and emerging learning technologies, and create experiences that extend beyond traditional courses into practice, reinforcement, and performance support. In this role, you will design and develop high-quality learning experiences, independently manage assigned projects, and collaborate with Learning Partners, subject matter experts, cross-functional teams, and vendors to strengthen learner knowledge, skills, and performance.
We're looking for an experienced learning designer who combines strong instructional design craft with curiosity, sound judgment, and a collaborative, consultative approach. A successful candidate will bring a growth mindset and use generative AI and emerging technologies to accelerate and expand how they discover, design, develop, and iterate while applying essential human judgment to make effective design decisions.
We’d love to review your portfolio. If contacted by a recruiter, please be prepared to share it during the screening process.
Key Responsibilities
Build working knowledge of Visa's Sales and Client Services audiences and operating contexts, partnering with stakeholders and subject matter experts to accurately understand business and performance needs.
- Independently manage assigned learning-design projects across the project lifecycle, balancing multiple priorities while planning work, coordinating stakeholders and contributors, managing risks and dependencies, and delivering high-quality work against critical milestones.
- Apply adult learning theory, cognitive science, and evidence-based instructional practices to design learning experiences that translate skills and performance expectations into meaningful practice, assessment, and feedback.
- Partner with Learning Partners, stakeholders, and other relevant teams to define meaningful measures of success, using available learning and business evidence to evaluate and continuously improve learning design.
- Design and develop assigned learning solutions, facilitating productive design conversations with SMEs, vendors, and other contributors to ideate, prototype, and refine learning solutions.
- Ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions when appropriate, clarify ambiguous requests, and communicate the rationale for design, platform, and evaluation decisions.
- Translate design strategy into modern, high-quality, accessible learning experiences and deliverables using various formats, modalities, and technologies—including eLearning, custom graphics, audio, video, and emerging approaches such as AI-enabled practice and just-in-time performance support—both creating and curating content as needed.
- Use generative AI and other learning technologies to accelerate discovery, design, development, and iteration while applying instructional design expertise, business context, and human judgment to the final solution.
- Contribute to the community of learning experience designers by sharing best practices, tools, and expertise.
- Stay on top of industry trends and recommend innovative approaches to elevate learning experiences.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

- List these exact terms on your resume: Instructional Design, Learning Management, Project Management, Stakeholder Management, and Generative AI. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
