🚀 This is what you tell people at parties
We didn't become Europe's leading e-commerce shipping platform by playing it safe. Sendcloud powers 30,000+ online retailers, marketplaces, and fulfillment companies. Helping them ship smarter, grow faster, and actually get shit done for their customers. Boring logistics? Not here. We're building the platform that solves shipping, at scale, globally!
🧐 The Role
As a Medior Backend Engineer, you’ll be part of one of our 15+ cross-functional feature teams, working on the core systems that power Sendcloud. We integrate numerous carriers and online stores into a fast, intuitive platform used by merchants across Europe.
We release early, release often, and automate everything we can. Our codebase has high test coverage, our CI pipelines run continuously, and we’re always looking for ways to improve performance, reliability, and developer happiness.
🎯 What you'll do
Impact & Direction: Contribute to your team's technical roadmap and short-term goals, breaking them down into concrete deliverables. Take steps toward independently owning a feature or problem space, using data and input from the right stakeholders.
Delivery & Execution: Plan, estimate, and break down medium-sized features, cutting scope to ship on time. Deliver high-quality software that is well-tested, scalable, secure, and performant, and give constructive feedback in code reviews.
Ownership & Reliability: Own the problems you work on and drive them to successful outcomes. Use our monitoring, error reporting, and metrics to spot and raise operational issues, and help keep our systems reliable and maintainable.
System Design & Architecture: Contribute to system and code design within your team, decompose problems into well-structured components, and design simple solutions with an eye for maintainability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product, Design, DevOps, QA, and other engineering teams, share information proactively, and tailor your communication to the audience.
Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Start mentoring more junior teammates, help others through code review and documentation, and share what you learn.

Personally
You take ownership of your work, follow problems through to resolution and ask for help when needed
You think beyond making the code work, considering testing, observability, reliability, security and maintainability as part of delivery

You're collaborative, give and ask for direct, empathetic feedback, and enjoy helping more junior teammates grow
You're curious and pragmatic, open to experimenting and learning, and able to adapt when requirements or priorities change
