AI in this role
Senior Board Design Hardware Engineer to drive next-generation networking platforms and hardware for accelerated data centers.
NVIDIA’s Hardware Switch Group is looking for a highly experienced Senior Board Design Hardware Engineer based in Taiwan to drive the development and production of next-generation networking platforms for accelerated data centers. In this role, you will combine deep hands-on hardware design expertise with broad technical leadership across multiple switch programs. You will guide products from architecture and concept through design, validation, qualification, production ramp, and mass production (MP). Working closely with global engineering teams and manufacturing partners, you will drive technical decisions, resolve complex design and production challenges, and improve product quality, manufacturability, and production performance. Our platforms enable high-performance, end-to-end GPU connectivity for AI, cloud computing, and high-performance computing applications.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead complex switch system and board development from concept through qualification, production ramp, and mass production, serving as a key technical focal point.
- Maintain a broad technical view across multiple programs, identifying shared risks, dependencies, opportunities for design reuse, and architectural improvements.
- Define system and board requirements, architectures, interfaces, and technical tradeoffs; own and review schematics, component selection, power delivery, and CPLD/FPGA integration.
- Drive multidisciplinary collaboration across hardware, PCB layout, mechanics, thermal, signal and power integrity, software, firmware, validation, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Guide complex multilayer PCB designs, ensuring performance, reliability, cost, and design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test requirements are addressed early in development.
- Lead hands-on board bring-up, system integration, validation, and root-cause investigations, translating findings into verified corrective actions.
- Work closely with ODMs and contract manufacturers to drive NPI readiness, production-test coverage, failure analysis, yield improvement, and production-line stabilization.
- Own technical support for products in mass production, resolving recurring failures, managing hardware and component changes, and applying lessons learned across programs.
What we need to see:
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in complex board design and hardware-system development, including ownership across multiple product lifecycle stages.
- Proven experience taking hardware products through NPI, production ramp, and mass production, with direct involvement in production-line troubleshooting and sustaining engineering.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production testing, yield analysis, failure analysis, and corrective-action verification, with hands-on experience working with ODMs or contract manufacturers.
- Deep expertise in electrical schematics, component selection, advanced multilayer PCB design, and high-current power delivery, with a solid understanding of CPLD/FPGA integration.
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills in board bring-up, system integration, validation, debugging, and complex root-cause analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technical activities and make system-level decisions while driving detailed hardware execution across multiple programs.
- Independent and proactive technical leadership, with strong communication, mentoring, and coordination skills and the ability to work effectively with global teams and manufacturing partners.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Proven high-speed board design experience with interfaces operating at 25 Gb/s and above.
- A track record of improving production yield, reducing recurring failures, and driving effective corrective actions across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems, advanced PCB technologies, signal integrity, and power integrity.
- Experience managing component substitutions, engineering changes, and supplier-related issues during mass production.
- Experience collaborating with silicon vendors, component suppliers, and manufacturing partners in Taiwan and globally.
