About the TeamThe ENG FiD Emerging Markets team brings fixed income data to Bloomberg's clients on a scalable, reliable, and performant platform. We're responsible for the security data across — corporates, governments, municipals, money markets, and securitized products.
This is a newly formed team. You'll be among the founding engineers shaping architecture, culture, and direction — startup-level ownership, backed by an established global company. You'll work with product managers and the data department to turn complex domain problems into high-performance software. We choose engineers for how they think, not just what they've shipped.
We provide real-time financial calculation, analytics, and instrument data solutions that fixed income professionals rely on to price, analyze, and trade securities across every major asset classes mentioned above. We are responsible for onboarding and representing the full lifecycle of these instruments, from new issuance through maturity, ensuring that every security is accurately identified, classified, and enriched with the data our clients need. Our systems serve portfolio managers, traders, and analysts at the world's largest financial institutions with the accuracy, speed, and reliability that global markets demand around the clock.
As a developer on this team, you'll work across the full stack of instrument data and analytics, solving hard problems at the intersection of financial markets and large-scale software engineering.

Engineer and scale high-volume C++ systems that deliver precision fixed income data to the global financial community
Take end-to-end ownership of the architectural vision and technical roadmap for our newly formed team.
Foster cross-regional innovation by collaborating seamlessly with engineering counterparts in London and New York
You will have a direct impact on the engineering culture by building our team’s onboarding and mentorship frameworks from the ground up
Proven Production Experience — 7+ years of experience building and maintaining robust production systems
Academic Foundation — a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
Analytical Problem Solving — ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and translate complex requirements into actionable technical roadmaps
Technical Reasoning — expertise in evaluating technology trade-offs, justifying design choices, and identifying optimal solutions for specific constraints
Distributed Systems Design — deep understanding of consistency, failure modes, and observability. You build pragmatically, avoiding both under- and over-engineering
Code Quality & Peer Review — a commitment to rigorous code reviews focusing on correctness, performance, and long-term maintainability
Automated Delivery — a results-oriented approach to testing and CI/CD, ensuring safe and predictable deployments
Product Ownership — a holistic view of the software lifecycle, taking responsibility for system health and performance post-deployment
Technical Leadership — a track record of influencing technical direction and elevating the engineering capabilities of those around you
What Sets You Apart
Advanced technical mastery in C++, Java, or comparable object-oriented languages.
Versatility in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript to drive automation and tooling efficiency.
Proven expertise in architecting high-throughput, low-latency systems that balance rigorous correctness with peak performance.
