Build and maintain core platform infrastructure and workflow orchestration engines for automated cloud security incident response at AWS.
Amazon Security's Operational Research and Development team combines Security Engineers and Software Development Engineers in a single mission: reduce time-to-resolution for security incidents through automation at every stage of the response lifecycle. As an SDE, you will build and operate the core platform infrastructure: workflow orchestration engines, enrichment APIs, knowledge graph pipelines, and the operational tooling that keeps them running in production.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will:
- Build and maintain production services that underpin security automation capabilities (workflow engine, API gateway, data infrastructure)
- Write clean, well-tested code in Python and TypeScript, shipping features end-to-end from design through deployment
- Own the operational health of your services: monitoring, alarming, on-call, and incident response for the platforms you build
- Work daily alongside Security Engineers who define the investigation logic and response playbooks your platforms execute
- Contribute to architectural decisions that balance rapid delivery with long-term reliability at scale
- Support the operation of security services deployed in the European Sovereign Cloud
- Grow into deeper ownership of systems and broader technical influence across the team
This role is based in Paris, France.
About the team
The Operational Research and Development team sits within Amazon Security. We are a mixed team of Security Engineers and Software Development Engineers who share a single mission: make security incident response so fast and accurate that human involvement is reduced to the decisions that genuinely require judgment.
Our engineers own what they build. Each person carries meaningful end-to-end ownership of production systems, from design through deployment and operational excellence. We prototype rapidly, ship iteratively, and treat every manual step in our response pipelines as a problem to solve permanently.
The team values directness, intellectual honesty, and a bias toward building over discussing. We maintain a flexible, distributed working culture and core collaboration hours that respect personal time.
We are intentional about building an inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives drive better security outcomes. Whether your path to software engineering was traditional or not, what matters is your ability to ship reliable systems and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
