This will involve closely engaging with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders to identify sourcing strategy that balances business needs, effort, and efficiencies.
- Independently own one or more sourcing (sub-)categories, including the assigned spend and savings targets for your portfolio
- Review spend data and market trends for key indirect spend categories
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to align on sourcing priorities and requirements, influencing matrixed stakeholders across business units
- Conduct market research and prepare RFP documents for upcoming sourcing projects
- Manage the RFP process, evaluate proposals, negotiate commercial deal terms and contracts, including standard commercial legal terms, and create award recommendations
- Present supplier recommendations, negotiation outcomes, risk assessments, and sourcing results to leaders up to three levels above you
- Partner across regions and categories within Global Corporate Procurement to share best practices and align on sourcing approaches
- Contribute to the development of category management plans
- Provide procurement analytics and insights to support data-driven decision making
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in strategic sourcing
A day in the life
Your morning might start with a cross-functional alignment call for an upcoming RFP involving three business units, followed by analyzing bid responses and building a recommendation deck for senior leadership. After lunch, you could be on a negotiation call with a strategic supplier's C-suite to finalize contract terms, then pivoting to a spend review with Finance to validate savings actuals against targets. You might close the day by coaching a business partner through the supplier evaluation framework for an upcoming engagement. No two days look the same — you will balance long-range strategic planning with hands-on execution, often managing five or more active sourcing engagements simultaneously across different stages of the lifecycle.
