YOUR ROLE
Based in Abidjan within our Regional Office, the role supports business activities across 40 countries in Africa.
As the AI Business Specialist, you are the catalyst for AI transformation in CMA CGM’s operations in Africa. Your role is to evangelize, embed, and scale AI practices across business and operational processes, ensuring AI becomes a core driver of innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage. You will act as a bridge between technology and business, inspiring teams to adopt AI, breaking down barriers, and demonstrating tangible value through pilot projects, training, and thought leadership.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
AI Strategy & Business Value
• Identify and prioritize high-impact AI use cases across business functions
• Champion AI adoption as a strategic priority, creating excitement and buy-in at all levels—from executives to frontline teams.
• Proactively scout for high-impact AI use cases in logistics, supply chain, customer experience, and back-office operations, prioritizing quick wins and scalable solutions.
• Translate business needs into scalable AI-enabled solutions
• Define measurable success criteria and ensure tangible business impact
• Act as the process owner for AI enabled processes
• Shape the AI operating processes across people, processes, tools and governance
• Partner with external AI players to identify best in class practices and solutions relevant to our business
• Embed AI solutions/tools into our core business (e.g. mistral solutions into customer care activities)
• AI research to understand market dynamism and AI demands across the region
AI-Driven Process Automation & Scaling
• Design and implement Safe AI-supported workflows (e.g., AI agents, copilots, intelligent orchestration)
• Optimize processes before automation to ensure sustainable efficiency gains
• Coordinate AI agents, dashboards and cross-system orchestration
• Develop reusable architectural and process patterns to scale AI capabilities Ownership, Cross Functional Leadership & Governance
• Act as the central point of accountability for enterprise AI standards and responsible deployment
• Align AI-powered processes with executive priorities and cross-functional objectives
• Establish governance frameworks to ensure secure, compliant, and scalable AI usage
• Support the organization to skill building and business value across
• Partner with HR/L&D to build AI literacy across the organization, from basic awareness to advanced upskilling (e.g., prompt engineering, data literacy).
• Advocate for responsible AI, ensuring solutions are transparent, fair, and aligned with CMA CGM’s values.
• Monitor AI trends (e.g., generative AI, autonomous agents) and pilot emerging technologies to keep CMA CGM at the forefront of innovation in Africa
• Liaise with external partners (startups, academia, tech providers) to co-create solutions tailored to African markets (e.g., low-bandwidth AI, multilingual NLP)
• Identify and invest in relevant AI start-ups in the region to accelerate adoption
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• Proven track record of driving AI/automation adoption in complex, multi-country environments
• Hands-on experience applying AI or automation in real business environments
• A real problem solver and troubleshooter
• An excellent communicator with the ability to work at all levels of the organization
• Highly adaptable and flexible through shifting priorities
• Fluent in French and English
