AI in this role
The Product Management team drives Asana’s product strategy and execution, translating customer needs into products that help teams work together and see the larger purpose behind their work. As AI agents become part of how work gets done, we’re building new ways for people, developers, and agents to collaborate through Asana’s Work Graph.
We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager to lead product strategy for Asana’s APIs and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. You’ll help external developers and AI agents understand and act on the work teams manage in Asana—from tasks and projects to the goals, ownership, and dependencies that connect them. You’ll shape a platform that makes these workflows useful, reliable, and secure, balancing developer experience with the controls enterprise customers need. You’re a technical product leader who can reason deeply about systems, turn emerging customer needs into a focused roadmap, and bring engineering, design, research, and go-to-market partners together to deliver meaningful outcomes.
This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you’ll achieve
- Own the product vision and prioritized roadmap for Asana’s APIs and MCP server, connecting developer and customer needs to Asana’s broader product strategy.
- Enable external developers and agents to complete valuable workflows in Asana, and improve the journey from discovering Asana's APIs and MCP tools to completing a first successful workflow.
- Expand access to Work Graph capabilities in partnership with the teams that own them.
- Reduce friction in documentation, authorization, and everyday use.
- Partner closely with engineering to improve platform reliability, performance, and compatibility as API and MCP capabilities evolve.
- Use customer feedback, evaluations, and success measures (adoption, workflow completion, reliability, and time to value) to identify where workflows fail and prioritize improvements.
- Work with security and enterprise product teams to make agent access trustworthy. Define clear permissions, administrative controls, and accountability for actions taken by agents.
- Lead initiatives from discovery through launch and iteration across multiple teams. Measure success through adoption, workflow completion, reliability, and time to value.
About you
- 6-8 years of product management experience, with a track record of launching and growing products in B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or developer platforms.
- Experience shaping technical platform or developer-facing products, including APIs and MCP servers, and connecting API and infrastructure decisions to real customer problems and business outcomes.
- Technical fluency and systems thinking. You can reason about APIs, authentication, permissions, dependencies, and failure modes, and translate technical protocols into clear end-to-end user flows. You have experience designing API contracts, managing versioning and backward compatibility, and owning SDKs and developer documentation.
- Strong product judgment. You can navigate ambiguity, identify the core problem, and turn a broad opportunity into a focused, sequenced roadmap.
- A customer-centered, analytical approach. You seek out developer and user feedback, define meaningful success measures, and use evidence to guide prioritization and iteration.
- Proven ability to lead end-to-end product delivery and align multiple teams around difficult decisions. You communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical partners and keep execution moving across dependencies.
- Experience mentoring and developing other product managers.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Questions you could be asked
- How do you decide when an AI agent can act on its own versus asking for approval first?
- Describe a typical day in a role like this one: which parts run through AI directly?
- If you removed AI from this role, what would be left, and how do you decide what still needs a human?
Adapt your resume
- List these exact terms on your resume: AI agents. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
- Show where AI is part of your daily process, not a one-off project. This role expects it to be a running habit.
