Marketing Manager
AI in this role
Lead go-to-market messaging, product launches, and demand generation for an emotional intelligence voice AI platform.
Location: Hume Headquarters (NYC)
Reports to the CEO
About Hume
Hume AI builds emotional intelligence infrastructure for voice AI. As foundation models get better at talking, the hard problem becomes whether they understand people: tone, intent, frustration, delight. Hume sits between foundation models and the applications built on them, giving AI labs and enterprise teams the tools to measure, train, evaluate, and observe the emotional quality of their voice AI.
Our platform spans API products (including our Expression Measurement API), data solutions, and Kairos, our RL training platform, alongside evaluation and observability tools like the RWVEQ benchmark and EQ Observability. We're a team of researchers, engineers, and commercial operators, and we work with some of the most sophisticated AI builders in the world.
The role
We're hiring our first dedicated Marketing Manager to own how Hume shows up in the market. You'll take a technically deep, research-driven product platform and make it clear, credible, and compelling to AI engineers, research leaders, and enterprise buyers. You'll work directly with the CEO and closely with research, product, and sales, and you'll have real ownership from day one: positioning, content, launches, and pipeline.
This is a builder role. You'll set up the foundations (messaging, channels, tooling, metrics) and do much of the hands-on work yourself, with the opportunity to grow the function as the company scales.
What you'll do
Positioning and messaging. Own Hume's platform narrative and product messaging across the full stack, from individual APIs to Kairos. Translate research and product capabilities into value propositions that resonate with distinct audiences: AI labs, voice AI application builders, and enterprise teams.
Product launches. Plan and run launches for new products, models, benchmarks, and major features, coordinating across research, product, engineering, and sales.
Content and thought leadership. Build a content engine that establishes Hume as the authority on emotional intelligence in AI: technical blog posts, research explainers, benchmark write-ups, case studies, and executive thought leadership for the CEO and research team.
Demand generation. Stand up and run programs that generate qualified pipeline for enterprise and developer motions, including email, events, webinars, partner co-marketing, and paid channels where they make sense.
Sales enablement. Arm the commercial team with pitch decks, one-pagers, competitive positioning, and customer proof points that shorten sales cycles.
Developer and community presence. Partner with the product and DevRel efforts to grow awareness and adoption among developers building with voice AI.
Measurement. Define and report on the metrics that matter: pipeline contribution, content performance, launch impact, and brand reach.
What we're looking for
5–8 years in B2B marketing, with significant product marketing experience at an AI, developer tools, data infrastructure, or API-first company
Proven ability to understand deeply technical products and explain them simply without dumbing them down; you're comfortable reading a research paper and turning it into a story
Track record of shipping launches and content that moved pipeline, not just awareness
Experience marketing to both technical users and enterprise buyers
Excellent writing; you'll produce much of the content yourself
Comfort operating with high autonomy in a fast-moving, early-stage environment, and the judgment to prioritize ruthlessly
Nice to have: experience with AI/ML platforms, evaluation or MLOps tooling, or voice/speech products; background marketing a services-to-platform transition; existing relationships in the AI research or developer community.
Why Hume
Shape the market narrative for a new category at the intersection of AI and human emotion
Work directly with the CEO and a world-class research team
Real ownership and visible impact on company growth
How we rate this
Marketing Manager at Hume AI rates 65 out of 100 for how much of the daily work is AI. That makes it Works on AI (AI Level 3 of 4). The level is about AI in the job, not seniority.
Works on AI. The daily work is on AI products, without building the model.
- ●●●● Builds AI80 to 100
- ●●●○ Works on AI60 to 79
- ●●○○ Uses AI40 to 59
- ●○○○ Little AI0 to 39
Levels come from how often the tools, models and workflows of the role are named in the posting itself. Open the description and count.

Skills and AI tools this role asks for
Questions you could be asked
- How do you monitor a model once it's live, and how do you know it needs retraining?
- What have you built with speech recognition or text-to-speech, and where did it break?
- Tell me about a research question you investigated. What did you find?
- Tell me about a project where positioning was part of your work. What did you do?
- Tell me about a project where product launches was part of your work. What did you do?
Adapt your resume
- List these exact terms on your resume: ML Ops, Speech, AI Research, Positioning, and Product Launches. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
- Show where AI is part of your daily process, not a one-off project — this role expects it to be a running habit.
