Wood is currently seeking a Junior/Intermediate Pipeline Stress Engineer to join our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing advanced stress analysis and engineering assessments for buried pipeline projects across the oil and gas industry. The role involves performing advanced finite element analysis using ABAQUS, working independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision, and providing technical recommendations to senior engineers and project managers. The successful candidate will contribute to pipeline design, integrity, rerating, repair, and construction support projects from concept through completion.
- Perform linear and nonlinear finite element stress analysis of buried and above-ground pipelines using ABAQUS.
- Conduct engineering assessments for pipeline integrity, rerating, fitness-for-service, repair, and reinforcement projects.
- Support design and construction projects from FEED through detailed engineering, construction support, and as-built phases.
- Develop finite element models and perform detailed technical evaluations for complex loading conditions, including thermal expansion, geohazards, settlement, buoyancy, and operational loads.
- Interpret analysis results and develop practical engineering recommendations for design, construction, integrity, and operational challenges.
- Prepare technical calculations, engineering assessments, and detailed technical reports.
- Apply industry codes and standards related to pipeline design and operation, including CSA Z662, ASME B31.4, and ASME B31.8.
