AI in this role

About the Team

The Growth team drives user and revenue growth across ChatGPT’s consumer and business segments worldwide. We work across the full funnel, from acquisition and activation to retention and monetization, through product experiments, in-product improvements, performance marketing, creative development, and AI-powered workflows.

The International Growth team works with regional leaders in priority markets to identify the user needs and product gaps that matter most for adoption, usage, and monetization. We turn country priorities into product roadmaps and growth plans, then partner with engineering, research, design, data science, marketing, finance, policy, and partnerships to test and ship improvements.

We combine product strategy, product experimentation, with hands-on growth operations. We account for local behavior, competition, and product experience while building shared capabilities such as segmentation, lifecycle journeys, and experimentation systems. We measure what ships, adapt it to the market, and scale approaches that work across markets.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Product Growth generalist with an international focus to help people get lasting value from ChatGPT across markets, use cases and product experiences. You’ll partner with international and central teams to understand user needs, identify growth opportunities and turn them into measurable improvements across acquisition, activation, engagement, retention and monetization.

You’ll combine strong analytics and experimentation with product intuition, design judgment and a deep understanding of users and local markets. You’ll use AI-native automation and agentic tools to accelerate research, analysis, prototyping and execution. This role requires systems thinking and the ability to move across diverse experiences, improving both individual funnels and end-to-end workflows as products, user behavior and market needs evolve.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Partner with product, eng, and design to turn insights into intuitive experiences and prototypes, improving how users discover value, complete tasks and return.

  • Diagnose and optimize funnel performance using user research, event-level behavior, cohort analysis, and competitive insight. Identify drop-offs and high-value segments, distinguish local needs from shared product friction, and prioritize interventions.

  • Build and use agentic workflows to automate research, analysis, prototyping and experiment operations, with clear quality checks and human judgment where needed.

  • Connect acquisition and marketing insights to product journeys; partner with regional marketers and channel specialists on tests that improve qualified acquisition and activation.

  • Own a rigorous experimentation program across onboarding, activation, repeat usage, re-engagement, paid conversion, and expansion. Partner with Engineering and Data Science on hypotheses, instrumentation, A/B tests and holdouts, readouts, and staged rollouts, with clear success metrics and guardrails.

  • Build and execute a focused international growth roadmap, including in-product upsell, cross-sell, targeting, onboarding, activation/adoption, expansion, and monetization related experiences. Identify the use cases, onboarding barriers, product entry points, and upgrade moments that can improve adoption and sustained customer value.

  • Partner with Data Science and Engineering to develop, deploy, and improve classifiers and propensity models for segmentation, targeting, and personalized in-product journeys. Evaluate predictive quality and use controlled experiments to establish incremental activation, conversion, or expansion impact.

  • Own measurement across activation, retention, paid conversion, upsell, cross-sell, and revenue. Separate incremental impact from market mix, seasonality, or cannibalization, and use the results to decide what to scale, adapt, or stop.

  • Run a clear operating cadence with regional and central partners, surfacing international experimentation results, trade-offs, dependencies, and decisions without requiring formal ownership of every team involved.

  • Build repeatable growth primitives, such as segmentation, lifecycle journeys, referral and expansion triggers, and experimentation tooling, that can be reused across segments and markets. Use AI-native workflows to accelerate research, prototyping, and iteration.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience across product growth, growth strategy and operations, data science, experimentation, and growth design systems, with hands-on ownership of product experiments and measurable outcomes in a fast-moving technology company.

  • A user-first track record of translating research and behavior into product priorities, then working with technical teams to ship improvements.

  • Deep expertise in funnel optimization and experimentation, including instrumentation, A/B testing, statistical power, holdouts, segmentation, cohort analysis, and interpreting incremental impact. A track record of turning experiment results into sustained product improvements.

  • The ability to work across product and marketing levers, connecting audience and acquisition insights to activation, retention, and monetization.

  • Analytical fluency in funnel modeling and growth economics, including incrementality, LTV, CAC, and payback; the ability to move between strategic prioritization and hands-on execution.

  • Practical experience applying classifiers and propensity models to growth problems with Data Science and Engineering, including choosing useful signals, evaluating model quality, and testing the impact of targeted interventions.

  • Ideally, experience scaling and continuously optimizing growth initiatives within Engineering and Data Science pods, from shared prioritization and implementation through experimentation and rollout.

  • Experience adapting products or growth programs across markets, with sound judgment about language, local behavior, business needs, and what should remain consistent globally.

  • Experience optimizing self-serve funnels and in-product upsell, cross-sell, or expansion journeys, or strong evidence of applying comparable growth expertise to a new customer segment/goal

  • The ability to influence central and regional teams, work independently through ambiguity, and carry an initiative from diagnosis through execution and evaluation.

Workplace & Location

  • San Francisco or New York City based.

  • Travel as needed for key cross-functional sprints and regional collaboration.

Questions you could be asked

  1. How do you decide when an AI agent can act on its own versus asking for approval first?
  2. Tell me about a research question you investigated. What did you find?
  3. This role expects you to use AI tools as part of the job. Which ones have you used, and for what?
  4. Tell me about a time an AI tool got something wrong. How did you catch it?

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: AI agents and AI Research. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
  • Put the AI tool in a bullet point about what you did, not just in a skills list. This role treats it as a required part of the job.
