AI in this role
Lead the product strategy, discovery, and lifecycle for Sophos Firewall and cloud-based multi-firewall management capabilities.
Role Summary
The Product Manager drives the strategy, discovery, and delivery of Sophos Firewall and its cloud-based multi-firewall management capabilities in Sophos Central, the core of Sophos’ network security portfolio. You will partner closely with engineering, design, sales, and customer success to build solutions that protect organizations across distributed, hybrid, and cloud-first environments. This Product Manager role owns the full product lifecycle, including identifying market opportunities and defining strategy through launch, adoption, and scaling. The primary focus will be Sophos Firewall (XGS appliances, virtual and cloud-hosted firewalls, and SFOS) and Multi-Firewall Management from Sophos Central, including centralized policy, configuration, monitoring, reporting, and orchestration of firewall estates at scale for enterprises and MSPs. You’ll operate at the intersection of security domain expertise, customer insight, and technical execution, with a global scope that includes regular collaboration with regional teams. What makes this role unique is the combination of breadth and depth: you’ll shape product direction in one of the most established yet rapidly evolving segments of cybersecurity, working across every function of the business. What you will do
-
Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for capabilities within Sophos Firewall and Multi-Firewall Management in Sophos Central, including centralized management of firewall policies, templates, configuration, and firmware across large and distributed deployments. This includes discovery and research through definition, delivery, launch, and iteration.
-
Define and maintain a clear product roadmap grounded in evolving security needs, competitive dynamics, and business objectives.
-
Develop expertise in next-generation firewall and network security use cases, with particular focus on central management at scale (including MSP and multi-tenant scenarios), SD-WAN, VPN, and integration with Sophos Central, XDR/MDR, and ZTNA — understanding how businesses deploy these capabilities to secure branch and campus networks, reduce attack surfaces, and simplify operations.
-
Conduct customer discovery through interviews, data analysis, and close collaboration with global and regional sales teams, partners, and MSPs to uncover high-value network security and management problems worth solving.
-
Translate complex security and networking requirements into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that enable engineering teams to deliver with confidence.
-
Partner with engineering to guide development, remove blockers, and ensure quality outcomes
-
Stay current on the competitive landscape (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, Cisco, WatchGuard) to inform positioning and roadmap decisions.
-
Drive go-to-market planning in collaboration with sales, marketing, and customer success, including enablement on use cases and differentiators.
-
Define and track key product metrics, such as Sophos Central firewall onboarding and adoption, managed-firewall attach rate, and operational efficiency, using data to inform decisions and communicate results to stakeholders.
-
Present product strategy, progress, and results to the product leadership team and Senior Management Team
-
Report to the VP of Product Management
What you will bring
-
At least 5+ years of strong experience in product management having domain knowledge of cybersecurity, network security, or a related B2B SaaS environment
-
Strong understanding of the network security market, including next-generation firewall capabilities such as IPS, application control, web and TLS inspection, VPN, SD-WAN, and zero-trust network access
-
Familiarity with centralized firewall management platforms and how enterprises and MSPs manage policy, configuration, and visibility across many firewalls and sites from the cloud
-
Understanding of cloud-managed security operations — multi-tenancy, role-based access, templates and group-based policy, API and automation — and how they reduce operational overhead and configuration drift
-
Proven track record of taking products from early discovery through launch and scaling in a technical domain
-
Ability to translate complex security and networking concepts into clear product strategy and actionable requirements
-
Comfort with data — you use quantitative and qualitative insights to drive prioritization and measure success
-
Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority across engineering, sales, design, and leadership
-
Experience collaborating with global or distributed teams and engaging with enterprise customers, partners, and prospects
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; technical degree, or security/networking certifications (CISSP, CCNP, etc.) are a plus
