About The Role
At Bombardier Aerospace, our employees work together to evolve mobility worldwide - one good idea at a time. If you have a good idea, we’ll provide an environment where it will thrive and grow into a great product or customer experience. Your ideas are our fuel.
You will be part of the Simulation team within Engineering. The team develops and maintains aircraft flight dynamics and systems simulation models that support the design, development, testing, certification, and in-service support of Bombardier aircraft.
The team is also responsible for developing and maintaining the Reconfigurable Engineering Flight Simulator (REFS), which provides a flexible simulation environment adaptable to the needs of multiple aircraft platforms and engineering disciplines.
The team supports all Bombardier aircraft platforms, including specialized mission aircraft.
This position is particularly well suited to engineers who enjoy solving technical problems through data analysis, modeling, programming, and validation activities. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in aircraft aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and simulation model development while working closely with specialists in aerodynamics, stability and control, loads, aircraft design, flight testing, and other engineering disciplines.
Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, a genuine interest in understanding aircraft behavior, and a willingness to develop deep technical expertise in aircraft aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and simulation.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Develop and maintain aircraft flight dynamics simulation models in MATLAB/Simulink. These models support aircraft design, validation, certification, in-service investigations as well as engineering and training simulators.
- Develop aerodynamic models using data from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel testing, empirical methods, and flight test results.
- Analyze, correlate, and reconcile multiple data sources to produce accurate and robust aircraft simulation models.
- Participate in model validation and verification activities to ensure adequate implementation, aircraft representativity, and compliance with engineering requirements.
- Support internal users of the simulation models, including Control Laws, Stability & Control, and Loads teams, as well as external users such as flight simulator manufacturers.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate methodologies, assumptions, and results.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of modeling tools, simulation processes, and development environments.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering.
- You have 5 years of experience in related industry.
- You have a strong engineering foundation and enjoy solving complex engineering problems through analysis, modeling, and programming.
- You have a good understanding of aircraft flight mechanics, stability and control, and the role of flight control surfaces.
- You have experience developing and debugging code. Experience with MATLAB is highly desirable, and Simulink experience is an asset.
- Experience with Python, C, or C++ is an asset.
- You are motivated to learn new technical concepts and develop expertise in aircraft simulation and aerodynamic modeling.
- You are organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while managing priorities and commitments.
- You take a disciplined engineering approach, including documenting your work, maintaining technical traceability, and communicating analyses and conclusions clearly.
- You have good written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
- You are a team player who promotes collaboration to achieve common objectives.
The following would be considered strong assets:
- Academic, project, or internship experience in aerodynamics, flight dynamics, flight controls, or aircraft simulation.
- Experience developing engineering models in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience analyzing test data and comparing model predictions against measured results.
- Experience with CFD, wind tunnel testing, or experimental methods.
- Demonstrated programming ability through academic, personal, competition, or research projects.
Now that you can see yourself in this role, apply and join the Bombardier Team!
Please note: You don’t need all the skills, knowledge, and experience listed to apply for this position. We’re not looking for the perfect candidate, we’re looking for great talent and passionate individuals.
