As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer - Applications Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and developing applications within ABB's manufacturing IT/OT environment. Working as part of a collaborative and growing team, you will contribute across the full application lifecycle, from requirements gathering and specification through to development, deployment and ongoing support. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with a passion for software development and manufacturing technologies to develop their technical expertise while making a tangible impact on factory operations.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you'll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

• Gather requirements and support the specification, development, testing, deployment and configuration of manufacturing applications.
• Develop and maintain applications using C# and .NET technologies, ensuring robust and scalable solutions for manufacturing environments.
• Investigate and resolve application and factory-related issues, providing timely solutions and escalating critical concerns when appropriate.
• Produce clear technical documentation and user-focused problem descriptions to support efficient issue resolution and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple departments to understand business needs and build effective working relationships.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing IT/OT environment and contribute to the growth of the Applications team.
• Provide basic infrastructure support cover during planned absence periods and work closely with infrastructure colleagues to maintain operational continuity.

Qualifications for the Role

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Experience in an application development role with exposure to software support activities.
• Knowledge of C#, .NET Framework/.NET technologies including Web Forms, WinForms, WPF and Web Services.
• Experience working with SQL databases, SQL Server and stored procedures.
• Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS and modern web frameworks.
• Understanding of manufacturing systems, Industry 4.0 concepts or industrial IT environments would be advantageous.
• Self-motivated and customer-focused mindset, with the ability to take ownership of tasks, solve problems independently and work effectively within a collaborative team.
