🐢 Our mission

Every pet should get the care they need, regardless of cost. Vet med prices are up 40% since 2020, and pet owners are stuck having to pick between their bank account and furry friend. At Snout, we aim to solve this by enabling clinics to offer wellness plans that actually work.

πŸš€ The opportunity

Snout is one of the fastest growing wellness plan providers in the veterinary space, trusted by clinics across the U.S. We're a small but mighty startup team of passionate employees. We're on the lookout for an experienced and remote Payment Request Operations Associate based in Texas or Georgia to help make sure every clinic is paid accurately for the care it provides and every pet owner pays only what their plan says they owe.

πŸ’» The role

As a Payment Request (PR) Operations Associate, you'll be the person who turns a veterinary invoice into the right payment. Clinics send Snout a payment request after each visit, and you'll review the invoice against the pet's plan, match each charge to the right wellness benefit, apply caps and remaining quantities, and confirm what Snout pays the clinic and what the client still owes.
Your work is where Snout’s promise becomes real for pet owners: every payment request you process turns a plan into actual savings at the vet. When a request is coded correctly and on time, the clinic gets paid what it's owed and the client sees the savings they signed up for instead of a surprise bill. When something looks off, like an invoice dated before the pet enrolled or a charge over its cap, you're the one who catches it and gets it sorted out before any money moves.
If you're detail-obsessed, steady with a busy queue, and the kind of person who asks one more question before hitting submit, we'd love to hear from you. 🐾
Snout is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We know that great candidates may not check every box β€” and that’s okay. If you're excited about this role and our mission, we encourage you to apply if you meet at least 75% of β€œwhat we’re looking for” including the first bullet point. If you need any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know β€” we’re happy to support you.

πŸ›  What you’ll do

  • Work through a daily queue of clinic payment requests, matching every invoice line to the pet's plan benefits, remaining quantities and cap prices
  • Check each request before it's paid: plan term against invoice date, pet and species, benefits already used, taxes, and what the client already paid in clinic
  • Investigate and flag exceptions, including charges over their cap, invoices outside the plan term, exhausted benefits, unclear line descriptions and $0 inventory lines
  • Call and email clinics to clarify invoices, explain coverage decisions, and let them know when a request can't be processed and why
  • Allocate limited benefits so pet owners get the most coverage their plan allows, and leave clear notes explaining each decision
  • Track recurring errors by clinic and charge type and share them with Clinic Success so the same mistake doesn't keep coming back

πŸ’‘What we're looking for

  • 1+ years of veterinary experience with billing and invoicing, such as building, reviewing or correcting client invoices at the front desk
  • High attention-to-detail and a sharp eye for numbers: you check totals, catch small discrepancies, and can explain exactly how you got to a figure
  • Comfort working in spreadsheets and back-office systems, including filtering, lookups and reconciling two sources that don't match
  • Clear, friendly phone and written communication with clinic staff, including when the answer is no
  • Good judgment about when a request is ready to pay and when it needs a question answered first
  • Steady, independent work habits that keep a queue moving while working remotely

🌟 What will make you stand out

  • Veterinary clinic experience (front desk, practice management or billing), or familiarity with practice management systems like ezyVet, Cornerstone or AVImark
  • Experience with pet wellness plans, pet insurance claims, or health insurance claims adjudication
  • Time on a startup or growing team where you helped write the process while running it

πŸ’– Why you should join Snout

  • Fast growing, venture capital backed technology company focused on improving access to veterinary care
  • Ability to have a meaningful impact from Day 1, where your voice and opinion matters
  • Unlimited potential to grow in your career, learn and expand your skillsets
  • Collaborative, flexible, and friendly culture

❌ Why this role might not be a fit for you

  • You don't live near an airport or have the flexibility to travel quarterly
  • A fast-moving, startup culture feels overwhelming to you and you aren't comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out as you go
  • You'd rather move fast and fix it later than double-check the details before money moves
  • Repetitive, high-volume review work drains you, even when every request is a little different
  • You'd rather not pick up the phone to ask a clinic a question or explain a decision they won't love
  • You aren’t based in Texas or Georgia

πŸ’Έ Compensation

  • $40 000 - $45 000 base salary

βš•οΈBenefits

  • Day 1 medical/dental/vision benefits
  • Flexible time off + 11 Snout calendar holidays
  • Paid parental leave
