This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

There are no technical leads on this team. Everyone is a member of the technical team, and everyone stays hands-on — senior people included. If you are looking for a title that gets you out of the code, this is not that job. 

You will build across SAP ECC and S/4HANA, EWM, and TM, for around 4,000 business users. Extensions, integrations, data and interface work, performance. A lot of it has not been built yet.

This role is contributing to the ABB Installation Products Division in Electrification Business Area
.
You will be mainly accountable for:

• Building. Hands-on development every week — objects, extensions, integrations through OData and REST, and the work to keep them stable afterward.

• Talking to the business directly. No ticket queue between you and the person who has the problem. You sit with them, work out what they actually need, and build that — rather than building what a relayed specification said.

• Using AI openly on the work, and being accountable for the result. See below.

• Shipping in small pieces, quickly. Something small delivered this week beats something complete next quarter.

• Keeping the quality bar. Code review, technical documentation, design documents, recovery plans. Owned by the people who build, not enforced by someone else.

• Security, privacy and governance compliance on everything you touch.

• Bringing other developers along without stepping out of the code yourself.

How we work

• AI is expected, not tolerated. The SAP world is conservative about this and we are not. Use assistants for development, debugging, test data, analysis and documentation — openly, and as much as they help.

• Two conditions. You own what you ship: the model wrote it is not a defence in code review, and we will ask you to explain generated code line by line. And throughput expectations reflect the fact that you have these tools.

• Speed over completeness. We would rather put something small in front of a user this week and learn from it than hand over something finished next quarter that turns out to solve the wrong problem.

• Small team, high ownership. Everyone builds and everyone supports. You will not be handed a narrow lane and left in it.

• Honesty over polish. Saying "I don't know, here is how I would find out" is a good answer here. Overstating what you have done is not.

Where this goes

• The people who do well on this team end up understanding the business process better than whoever wrote the specification — and then they stop needing the specification. 

• If you want to become techno-functional rather than a career developer, say so in your application. We will put you in requirement sessions, give you process ownership as you earn it, and back you into that transition. We would rather grow you into it than watch you leave to do it somewhere else. 
  

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)

• 10+ years hands-on with SAP, with real depth in at least one area — ABAP, Basis, FI/CO, MM, SD or comparable.

• 3+ years on S/4HANA, including at least one full implementation.

• Strong grasp of SAP architecture, system landscape and integration technologies.

• Demonstrated configuration and customization work, not only specification writing.

• Experience with modern integration — OData, REST APIs, SAP cloud solutions.

• Able to sit with a business user and be understood. This is a customer-facing development role.

• Valued, not required

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.

• Breadth across ERP, EWM, TM or analytics.

• AI experience outside of SAP world

• SAP certifications in ABAP, technical or integration areas.

• Cloud platform knowledge — AWS, Azure or GCP — and hybrid architectures.

• Agile and DevOps practice in SAP environments.

• Manufacturing, supply chain or finance process background.

• RPA experience and its integration with SAP.
